For a LOSS:
- "What was the thing that ultimately tipped it in [Competitor X]'s favour?"
- "If we had done one thing differently, would it have changed the outcome?"
- "What did [Competitor X] do during the evaluation that you found particularly compelling?"
- "Was our pricing a factor? If so, was it the absolute number or the value case we made for the number?"
The follow-up that produces the most useful data: For losses, after they name the primary reason, ask: "Was that something you saw in the product, heard in their messaging, or experienced in the sales process?" Block 4: Positioning and Messaging Response (5–8 minutes)
This block is where you test your current positioning directly.

Closing (3 minutes)
End with one open question: "Is there anything I did not ask that would be useful for me to understand?"
