Product launches fail because someone didn't know what they were supposed to do. Or when. Or who was responsible. A launch timeline seems simple—just a list of dates and tasks. But most timelines fail because they're created in a vacuum, without input from the teams who actually execute them.

2. Build in Buffers (The Double-Unknowns Rule)
Every task takes longer than you think. A designer says "3 weeks for the landing page." Add a week of buffer. Now it's 4 weeks. But what if they get pulled onto an emergency? What if the copy isn't final? What if stakeholders want changes? Add another week. Now you're at 5 weeks.
This isn't pessimism. It's physics. Every task has dependencies, reviews, and unknowns. Your job is to acknowledge them.
Buffer rule: Add 25-30% to every estimate, plus one additional week to the overall timeline for things you haven't thought of yet.
3. Dependencies Kill Timelines (Identify Them Ruthlessly)
